If you plan to pursue a GED, the Franklin Hampshire Career Center offers a continuous, on-going GED class Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Classes are free, very small, and relaxed. Enrollment is on a revolving-door type basis (with no set beginning or end).

To enroll, call the front desk and set up an appointment for an assessment. Assessments are used to give us an idea of your skills and abilities as well as academic level. The results can also provide information on the best course of action to prepare you for the GED.

Legally in Massachusetts, you must be 16 years old to withdraw from school before you are eligible to take the GED test. Additionally, should you decide to leave school before graduating you must obtain a letter of formal withdrawal from the school you last attended.

Approximately 25,000 adults are currently enrolled in Adult Basic Education (ABE) programs in Massachusetts. 24,442 adults are currently on waiting lists for ABE programs because there aren’t adequate resources to fund needed programs in the state.

Tutoring is also offered for those students who, after testing, would benefit from a brief review.

We realize that making a decision to go back to school can be incredibly scary and daunting, but you will never regret it once you have begun. Remember, we are here to help and support you every step of the way.

For more information, please call the Greenfield office at (413) 774-4361 or the Northampton office at 413-586-6506.

“I realized I knew less than I thought. There were all these rules to learn. I began to study many hours a day, TV became a noise in the background as I became more engrossed in learning my geometry and algebra, and attempting to write essays, which proved very hard for me even though I had so much to say.

I faced many road blocks with some things, but my teacher, Annette, at the Franklin Hampshire Career Center, was very patient, and worked hard at giving everyone the individual attention they needed, including me.”

Anita Morris, Greenfield
2005 GED Graduate
